Black Joy Is…

Starting in August, One Book One Bronx will draw its inspiration from Kleaver Cruz's The Black Joy Project, using the book as a starting point for conversations about joy as a powerful force in Black life. Through weekly discussions, participants will explore the books Salvation: Black People and Love by bell hooks, In Search of Our Mothers' Gardens by Alice Walker, and The Black Joy Project by Kleaver Cruz to explore how stories of joy, resilience, creativity, and community challenge dominant narratives centered on struggle.
