Mosaic’s James Baldwin

Mosaic Magazine presents two special literary evenings celebrating the enduring legacy of James Baldwin through readings, conversation, and community. On May 29, To Baldwin With Love: A Mosaic Magazine Reading at Recirculation featured readings by Myriam J. A. Chancy, Simeon Marsalis, and Darrel Alejandro Holnes, hosted by Roberto Garcia. The gathering brought together diverse voices and compelling storytelling inspired by Baldwin's profound influence on literature, culture, and social thought, creating an intimate space for reflection, dialogue, and creative exchange.

Continuing this celebration, Baldwin on My Mind: A Mosaic Magazine Reading will take place on June 10 at Sister's Uptown Bookstore & Cultural Center. The evening features readings by Keisha-Gaye Anderson, Tangela Mitchell, Yesenia Montilla, and Peggy Robles-Alvarado, with Roberto Garcia serving as host. Together, these writers explore themes of identity, memory, justice, love, and belonging that continue to resonate through Baldwin's work and within contemporary literary culture.

Presented by Mosaic Magazine, both events highlight the magazine's commitment to amplifying powerful voices and fostering meaningful conversations across communities. Copies of Mosaic Magazine will be available for purchase for $10, offering readers an opportunity to engage more deeply with the writers and ideas featured in this celebration of Baldwin's lasting impact.
